9 EASY Ways To Keep Your SUMMER GLOW All Year Round

As the weather transitions from summer to autumn and eventually winter, it's important to adjust your skincare routine to accommodate the changing conditions. I tend to find with the colder temperatures, lower humidity levels, and dry indoor heating I need to do a complete switch on my skincare routines as the change can wreak havoc on your skin, leading to dryness, flakiness, and increased sensitivity.

To keep your skin healthy and well-nourished during these seasons, check out these potential adjustments to your skincare routine:

1. Hydrate from Within

Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining healthy skin throughout the year, including the colder seasons. Even though you might not be as eager to quench your thirst as you do during the hot summer months, it's essential to continue drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated from the inside out.

2. Switch to a Gentle Cleanser

As the air becomes drier, it's important to switch to a gentle cleanser that won't strip away your skin's natural oils.

Look out for cleansing balms and oil-based cleansers such as the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil that effectively removes dirt, makeup, and impurities without leaving your skin feeling tight or dry.

Avoid harsh cleansers that contain sulphates or alcohol, as they can further dehydrate your skin.

4. More Moisture

With the drop in humidity, your skin needs extra moisture to stay hydrated and supple.

Try using a richer moisturiser like the Anua Heartleaf Intense Calming Cream or as an alternative option, add a few drops of facial oil to your current daily moisturiser.

Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and natural oils that provide intense hydration and help strengthen your skin's moisture barrier.

Apply your moisturiser or facial oil immediately after cleansing while your skin is still slightly damp to lock in moisture.

5. Don't Forget Sun Protection

Although the sun might not seem as strong during autumn and winter, harmful UV rays remain on show and still have the potential to damage your skin.

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, especially if you spend longer outdoors.

For deeper, darker skin tones, you can now find SPFs which don’t leave your skin looking like you’re going to play the next role of Casper the Ghost.

My personal favourite is the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice AiryFit Sunscreen. It leaves your skin dewy and lush without looking greasy.

6. Mask On

The ultimate self-care skincare routine must-have, has to be the face mask.

And this time of year your skin will thank you for the extra hydration.

Adding face masks to your skincare routine not only boosts hydration but adds nourishment, especially during the cold and dry seasons.

Apply face masks that focus on skin-loving ingredients such as the Dr.Jart+ Cryo Rubber™ Face Mask with Moisturising Hyaluronic.

Use a sheet mask once or twice a week to give your skin an intensive treatment.

7. Pout Protection

Of course, as the owner of a lip care brand one of my main skincare priorities is to protect my lips, particularly in the colder seasons.

Your lips are more vulnerable to dryness and chapping during autumn and winter.

Make sure to protect them by using a nourishing lip balm that contains moisturising ingredients like rich butters which you will find in the Kitaka Goodnight Goddess Lip Balm.

Apply lip balm throughout the day and before going to bed to keep your lips soft and hydrated.

8. Adjust Your Skincare Routine as Needed

Pay attention to your skin's changing needs and adjust your skincare routine accordingly.

If you notice increased dryness or sensitivity, consider using a hydrating serum or adding a facial oil to your routine.

You could even use a humidifier to increase moisture in dry indoor air.

9. Stay Consistent

Consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Develop a routine and stick to it throughout the autumn and winter seasons.

It might take some trial and error to find the perfect products and routine for your skin, but once you do, maintain consistency to keep your skin healthy and well-nourished.

By following these tips and making adjustments to your skincare routine, you can effectively transition your skin from the warmer months to autumn and winter.

Everyone's skin is unique, so it's important to listen to your skin's needs and adjust your routine accordingly.

With proper care and attention, you can keep your skin glowing, hydrated, and protected even during the colder seasons.

If you suffer from severe skin conditions, consult with a skincare professional dermatologist or other specialised care.
