How To Achieve Maximum Effect Using MINIMAL MAKEUP

Is your taste in how you do your makeup changing? Are you tired of spending hours on your makeup routine every morning?

Do you want to look and feel amazing without putting in too much effort? If so, I hear you!

Entering my thirties completely changed the way I did my makeup, probably not anything to do with the number itself, but maturing and wanting my makeup to match this new stage of my life.

In this post, I’ll be sharing the best beauty tips and tricks for creating a minimal, effortless makeup look that will leave you feeling confident and beautiful.

Tinted Moisturiser

Tinted moisturiser is one of the most underrated beauty items on the beauty scene.

What I love the most about it is its ability to give you a beautiful finish but at the same time you can still see the natural texture of your skin.

Admittedly, I still don’t believe there are enough great options for us black and brown girls on the market, however I found a needle in the haystack which is the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint which leaves a beautiful dewy finish and sits perfectly between natural and blurred skin.

So, instead of using a heavy foundation, try using a tinted moisturiser to subtly even out your skin tone.

This will enhance your natural beauty instead of masking it.

Test them out on your skin before buying so that your tinted moisturiser matches your skin tone well and for best results use your fingertips to apply.

One Coat of Mascara

When it comes to achieving a minimal makeup look, less mascara is more.

Instead of applying multiple coats of mascara and running the risk of clumping, apply just one light coat to your lashes.

One coat of a good mascara such as the YSL Beauty Volume Effet Faux Cils your lashes a natural, fluttery look that will enhance your eyes without overpowering and over dramatizing them.

Lip Gloss or Balm

A beauty tip I learnt years ago from celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, was if you didn’t want to wear an ounce of makeup, at least wear a sweep of gloss.

Just a little shine on your lip swill give the illusion that you at least tried.

A swipe of clear lip gloss or an ultra hydrating balm such as the Kitaka Multipurpose Overnight Goodnight Goddess Lip Balm is what I use to achieve a natural, effortless look.

Choose a clear shade with a natural shine and apply a small amount to your lips. This will give your lips looking healthy and moisturised throughout the day.

Brushed Through Eyebrows

Well groomed eyebrows can change the entire shape of your face, let alone your makeup. Keep eyebrows maintained through threading or waxing.

Instead of completely filling in your eyebrows with a pencil or powder, try using a brow brush to groom them and fill in any sparse areas.

This will give your eyebrows a natural, full look that complements your face shape. I love the Brow Pencil by Refy Beauty for its ultra fine nib which helps t create hair-like brush strokes.

Small Amount of Blush

Finally, a small amount of blush can add a subtle pop of colour to your cheeks and enhance your natural glow.

Choose a shade that complements your skin tone and apply a small amount to the apples of your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose. For the past few years I’ve been enjoying the OPV Born to Shine Palette since the colours work well on my skin tone.

I think we’ve all suffered with blush blindness once in our make up journey, so remember to blend it in well to achieve a natural, flushed look.

Final Thoughts

Remember, makeup should always be a fun and used as an outlet to express yourself.

The key to achieving a minimal effortless makeup look is to keep it simple and natural.

Follow these tips and tricks to achieve a natural, glowing look that will enhance your beauty without overpowering it.
