How To Have the PERFECT SUNDAY Afternoon

What does the perfect end of the week mean for you? Sundays are commonly known as the day of rest, a day of unwinding, recharging, and preparing for the week ahead.

But with this fast-paced society, we so often forget to slow down on Sundays meaning every day feels like a Friday evening which over time can take a toll on our mental and emotional health.

In this blog, I want to share with you some ways you can incorporate a few simple activities into your day to elevate your Sunday from okay to perfect.

Go out for Brunch

Start your Sunday on a delicious note by treating yourself to a leisurely brunch. Whether you decide to visit your favourite local café or cook up a storm at home, brunch offers a delightful blend of breakfast and lunch options. This doesn’t have to be in town in fact,

I’d personally take dining in residential areas any day over a trip into the city where it’s crowded with tourists. There’s something quite personable and intimate about local dining.

Enjoy some eggs benedict, avocado toast, or a stack of vegan fluffy pancakes with a fresh cup of coffee or a mimosa. The Ivy Blackheath makes a delicious cream tea with warm scones and jam,

Do a Wardrobe Edit for the Charity Shop

After a fulfilling brunch, take some time to declutter your wardrobe. Go through your clothes and set aside items that you no longer wear or need.

Donating these clothes to a local charity not only helps those in need but also gives you a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Plus, a tidier closet can make your mornings more efficient and stress-free.

An Afternoon of Baking

The older I get, the more I appreciate a wholesome Sunday, this includes looking for a beautiful cake recipe and spending the afternoon baking and decorating.

Weirdly enough I find more joy in baking the cake rather than eating it, the process is therapeutic and beautiful.

My go-to for delicious recipes is Jasmine’s Flour, she has the most amazing dairy-free cake recipes which are so easy to follow if like me you don’t want to spend the entire afternoon in the kitchen. This is also a great way to romanticise your life with a rewarding element, allowing you to indulge in a sweet treat at the end of the day.

Listen to Movie-Like Music

Speaking of romanticising your life, try listening to movie-like sounds such as jazz, and bossa nova. Jazz has a unique way of relaxing the mind and lifting the spirits.

Whether you prefer classic artists like Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald or contemporary musicians, let the smooth melodies fill your home.

Allow the music to act as a backdrop to enhance your Sunday afternoon as the main character and provide a perfect soundtrack for your end-of-week activities.

Take a Nap

Never underestimate the wonders of an afternoon power nap. Raise your energy levels and gain mental clarity by taking rest. Find a cosy spot in your bed or my while. A 20-minute nap can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of your Sunday afternoon.

Read a Novel

Bring your Sunday to a close with a novel. Romance, fantasy, adventure, no matter what your favourite genre is, reading is not only good for expanding your mind, it reduces stress and improves brain function. Get lost between the pages and give yourself permission to escape from reality and immerse yourself into a different world.
